End of Finals!

Seth reminded me that I should blog today. Here is his quote exactly from our chat on Facebook (he is at BYU and i am at home):

1:51pmCarlie
what are you doing

1:51pmSeth
studying in the jsb by the room for my test
don't forget to blog and call wolverine crossing

1:52pmCarlie
blog about what??

1:53pmSeth
me loving you and how we're almost done with finals and how i got a new jacket and how you got your earrings and how you're the best and how we're going to texas and las vegas so we get to get out of the cold

1:53pmCarlie
haha ok i will

We are obviously great at punctuation. ;) But, what he said is basically the news for us. Seth, the sweetest and best husband ever, surprised me with a very beautiful Christmas present. I opened it a little early because I was too excited. I got diamond earrings to match my necklace he got me last week along with a pretty ring. He is very thoughtful. We are thinking that we should make them family heirlooms. If we have a daughter we want to pass them on to her when she gets old enough.
For Christmas Seth got a nice warm Northface jacket. It's really cool actually because it has a fleece jacket zipped inside that you can wear separately. Now I won't worry about him freezing in this cold weather!
We leave for Vegas with my family on Monday. We will tour around there for a few days. Seth has never been to Vegas so it will be fun to show him around (no, we don't gamble). We will then go skiing on Christmas. The following week we will head to Texas. 2 warm places! WOOOHOO! My parents already have our Christmas plans for next year. They are making plans to go to Hawaii! I am so excited! All Seth and I will have to pay for is our plane tickets (and hopefully I'll be pregnant by then too).
Finals week has been really easy for me compared to what the weeks leading up to it have been. I had 3 finals on Monday and an assigned final for TMA on Friday at 11. It will be nice to be all done with this semester because it sure has felt like it has been a lot of work.
We are recruiting for San Diego so if anyone is interested in going there let me know!

Every Kiss Begins with Kay aka Kiss All Year

What a good week we have had!

On Tuesday night we had Seth's work party thing and I won a tv in a raffle! They called the winner's phone and it ended up being mine. I have never won a raffle before so I was really excited.
Thursday was the last day of class and now it is just finals!
On Friday Seth had a great surprise for me. I got home from watching the Weidner's and he said not to eat lunch or anything. I thought he was buying us Zupas but to my surprise he brought home In-n-Out. I love that place (they had it in California by my house). It just opened up here and has been super busy. But anyways, I opened up the bag to pull out my burger only to find a little gold wrapped present on top. Inside was a box from Kay's. I was really excited because this was very unexpected. In the box was a very pretty diamond necklace (you know the journey one?). I love it. What a great start to the Christmas season. Now to find a warm jacket for sethy!

My Special Day

Today was a very special day. Seth and I left on time for school but got stuck in “snow traffic” and behind plow trucks so we ended up late. (We also got behind a crazy driver that spun out and slipped off the road in front of us by Wal Mart, luckily we weren’t following closely!) My normal seat was taken in my math class (ya know how everyone always sits in the same spot from day 1?) since I was 5 minutes late. I ended up sitting at a seat in between Elise and Alli. During the Number Devil group presentations Alli turned to me and said that she had been thinking about me all weekend. She was really sad/upset that I wasn’t going to be teaching after graduation (in art on Thursday we were talking about how I wanted to have a baby as soon as I graduate) because I am so creative and would make such a great teacher etc. It really touched me because I was feeling really down and out with the major and had been praying for some comfort. I truly believe that she was an answer to my prayers. It was a great comfort to me.
Another special thing happened today after we went to class and ate dinner with Kelsey. She dropped us off at our car parked in the Marriot parking lot. It had snowed all day today so I was dreading wiping all the snow and ice off our car. But some kind person decided to do it for us! We arrived at our car and all the snow was off the windows. It really was a nice surprise and I was very grateful.

Today was a seriously a great Monday.

One week until finals!!!

Sunday, December 6, 2009

Today was a very interesting Sunday. It started out pretty nice. It was an enjoyable Sacrament Meeting and I even bore my testimony which I haven't done in a while. But come Sunday school things took a turn for the worst while talking about Satan and his followers. My mom believes a little differently then some people and this guy was a total jerk to her. I seriously don't think I have ever been so offended by a fellow member in the church. It was an older father and son in the ward who happen to think they are above everyone else in church. They said some things to my mom. I told them to just quit talking to her, and the one continues anyways and condemns my mother to hell. Oo boy I was going to call him a few choice words right there. I really don't understand how someone could be so careless with someones feelings and basically heartless. I can see why people can get offended and stop going to church. Don't worry, I'll still go to church but I will probably be in shock for a while.

Anyways, we had an exciting weekend. We went to the Jazz game with Brittany and Allen on Friday night. Yesterday I took a test and then Seth and I babysit the Weidners. It was fun and we made some extra Christmas money. Tonight we went to dinner at Seth's Bateman relatives house. It was very fun and we had an awesome game of Farkle. I came in 2nd again! I also got a new phone from Emily! I love it because it has Bubble Breaker.

We have one more week before finals start. It will be a crazy next couple weeks but then we are off to Vegas and Texas! HOORAY!

Our First Thanksgiving

(really long post so if you don't have time just read the bottom ps)

What an exciting week we have had:

On Monday we found out that Seth got accepted into the Business School. I knew he would but he was worried because they sent us a letter saying that he didn't finish all the requirements and we needed to come in and talk to them. We went in to chat only to find out that was an error. They didn't see his ISIS class because he had just finished it in October. So he'll start the program this semester as planned....PHEW! :)

We had no school on Tuesday because it was Friday's classes. We went to breakfast at Mimi's Cafe and found out a guy that Seth served with on his mission to Mozambique married the sister of the guy we went to breakfast with. Small world!

We went to Wyoming on Wednesday with my parents and sister. We were sad that we were unable to meet up with Seth's parents in Arizona and hope to see them soon. In Wyoming we played Mexican Train, rode a 4 wheeler, got attacked by El Diablo the white horse (really named Angel...haha), and ate lots of yummy food. It was weird because Seth and I were lucky enough to sleep in my great-grandme Louine's old bed. I was kinda freaked out at first beacuse she passed away a couple months ago and I thought that was the bed where she died. I asked my grandma Carlie and she said she passed away in Colorado. I was relieved!

Right now Seth is at the BYU vs Utah game with my dad. I have not been feeling well since Monday. I have had a sore throat, ear ache, and just plain feeling lousy. I was finally able to go to the doctor today only to find out it wasn't strep just a viral infection so they couldn't give me any medicine but over the counter stuff. I had already been taking OTC med and they haven't been working so that was disappointing. I am hoping my sore throat is gone by classtime on Monday.

We just celebrated Thanksgiving and I thought I would share some things I am grateful for:

*my sethy...the sweetest and most caring husband a girl could ask for. he always makes me laugh and i can never stay mad at him for long
*my family...always willing to help out and give good advice
*summer sales...san diego?! and the ability it gives us to pay for school, and life expenses
*school...i may wish that i was graduated but i really do enjoy learning and growing
*free monthly movies at Blockbuster!
*for extended family...i am coming to understand that we are all people just trying to do the best we can with what we are given
*homemade bread
*living in a country where we are free to choose what we think and live our religion
*the gospel and that it allows me to be sealed to my family and most importantly my husband
*my mom not being sick for 2 years which in turn makes me grateful that we moved to utah and found the right doctors
*my friends...i am very proud of brittney holland and i am not sure if i am at liberty to share why yet, but she is making a very brave decision and i love her for the example she is!

for those of you that actually had time to read the whole post...thanks!
:)

PS: we are wanting to do our first family christmas letter. if you would like one just email me your address at sethcarlie@gmail.com or post it on here. hope you all had a wonderful holiday!!

But, I said please!

Well this past week has been pretty exciting.

New Moon came out Friday so I went to the midnight showing on Thursday late night, Friday morning. It was so fun. We each got this swag bag with all sorts of goodies like a t-shirt, drink, popcorn, candy, nail polish, etc. It was me, Leslie, Danica, Lauren, Brittany, and Kylie. We were on Team Edward. Watching the movie made me not hate the 2nd book so much. And the most exciting thing this week--Britt and Allen got engaged! They are getting married in March!

I took two finals on Thursday and finished my ceramics project. It is so nice to be done with some of my work. I still have to teach at an elementary school for part of my dance final and video teach for it but the written portion is done!

We had really good seats at Saturdays football game BYU vs Air Force. 10 rows up on the east side. We sat with Laurel and Josh. I wasn't feeling very well and it was freezing so I didn't really enjoy the game. That was our 2nd time with really good seats. We had front row tickets a couple weeks ago.

Seth and I are now both sick though. It stinks. I wasn't able to sleep really well last night because I felt so bad. I have a really bad soar throat and ear ache. It stinks to be sick during our Thanksgiving Break, but it is better than missing school and getting behind on all our projects and finals.

We will be all moved in by the end of today which will be nice.

We are trying to figure out our summer with work and school. It is a tough choice.

The last day at Seth's phone job is tomorrow. He is pretty excited about that because he said it was really boring.

hi!

Well here we are again. Seth and I had a really eventful weekend. I took the Corolla to get new tires for winter (over 400 bucks!!) and then my car died on him (twice) so he had to call the little BYU police people to give him a jump (10 bucks). So we bought a new battery which was $70!
On Saturday we went to a murder mystery dinner which was so fun. We weren't really sure what was going on at first but it all made more sense after we left the cocktail (more like an apple juice) introduction. I wouldn't mind doing one again. The only not so great thing about the event was the food. The fruit cocktail was half frozen for some reason and the chili had onions (EWW).
On Wednesday my theater class is doing a performance of Talk, Talk, Talk. I really like performing with that class.
Other than that we are just getting ready to wrap up the semester. We are no longer going to Arizona for Thanksgiving and so we are going to Wyoming to see my grandparents instead. I am still very baby hungry but only a year and half left til graduation. Although it seems to be taking forever it will be worth it to have my degree!
